Ardmourne House has been offering English Language courses combined with horse riding to foreign students for many years.
The students are accommodated in the family guest house, run by Joe and Helena, in modern bedrooms with en-suite facilities.
Joe and Helena are on-site 24 hours a day and pay particular attention to young teens who are travelling without their parents.
We meet the students at the airport and bring them to Ardmourne House ourselves, and we also bring them back again to the check-in desk on departure.
The recommended arrival day is Saturday, as it gives students a chance to get to know each other on Saturday evening and have dinner together.
Please note that even though Saturday is the recommended arrival day, we are flexible as sometimes flights may be cheaper on a Sunday.
On Sunday, you will choose your horse with the help of the riding instructor – this horse will be yours for the entire holiday. Our instructors will help you feed and look after your horse.
After a short hack to the countryside, you will have lunch (included in price) in Ardmourne House. In the afternoon, all students are brought to Donegal Town for sightseeing/shopping etc.
On this day, you are given the opportunity to browse through the various shops and many restaurants in Donegal Town and choose your own meal (not included in the price) before being brought back to Ardmourne House later in the evening.
English Language classes run on a Monday to Friday basis, and horse riding is offered each day.
On Monday morning, the English teacher will assess all the students in order to find the Language Course that best matches your level of English. Classes are small, no more than six students max, which allows the teacher to concentrate on each student individually and make sure they have the full benefit of their course.
Each evening after horse riding, you are brought to the local town for dinner and back to Ardmourne House afterwards to relax and get ready for the next day's fun.
On one day each week, you will ride at the Wild Atlantic Ocean over miles of sandy beach – this is the highlight of your holiday, riding on the sand and in the water.
All learning materials are provided (student should bring notepads and pencils).
We offer a full programme of English Language Tuition.
Our language teachers are fully trained with a diploma in T.E.F.L. They have many years of experience and are very popular and successful with the students.
•Personal attention is given to each student
•Tuition is needs-centred
•Particular attention is given to grammar, speaking, written exercises and expression
•Special focus on students preparing for examinations
We have an indoor and outdoor riding arena adjacent to the guest house and the Stables. This is where you get to know your “four-legged friend” before going out on the trails.
You will ride through the hills and forest with spectacular views of the Derg Valley and Donegal Mountains.
During your holiday, flatwork and jumping will be arranged for those who wish to practice their skills.
